AeroGal, the Company was founded in November 1985 with the aim of providing air transportation of passengers and freight in Continental Ecuador and the Galapagos Archipelago. On July 24, 2006, international operations began scheduled flights to the airport "El Dorado" in Bogotá. And, on August 3 begins with the route to Medellín. In November 2008, the route to Miami, the same that opened on 7 December of that year. AeroGal currently has 9 domestic destinations: Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Manta, Baltra, San Cristobal, Lago Agrio, Coca and Portoviejo and two international: Bogota and New York.

Through a trade agreement between AeroGal and Synergy Group (Avianca, Ocean, VIP) the airline will receive the new aircraft that enable the creation of new destinations. International destinations such as Los Angeles, Milan, Madrid, Lima and Panama are being considered.
Agreement includes code sharing on domestic routes between AeroGal and VIP (Lago Agrio, Francisco de Orellana, Salinas).
In October 2009, AeroGal announced a merger with the Colombian airline Avianca and the Salvadoran airline TACA. AeroGal continue to operate under its own brand but it shares its assets with the other airlines.
