Carry-On Baggage for Avianca Flights: For its domestic or international trips, Avianca - SAM allows one piece of carry-on baggage: maximum weight 10 kg. (22 lb.) and maximum outer dimensions (length+ width + height) 115 cm. (45").
Furthermore, at no additional cost, each passenger may take on board one of the following items: A woman's handbag. An overcoat, wrap or blanket. A cane. A camera or binoculars. Photography and video equipment; laptops. Food and drink for babies during the flight. A baby cradle. A wheelchair, crutches or any other orthopedic device that the passenger must use.
International Avianca Airline Flight Baggage Allowance: The baggage that a Passenger can check in without additional cost, to and from international destinations is two pieces: The total weight per piece must not exceed 23 kgs (50 pounds) and the external dimensions (length + height + width) of each should not exceed 158 centimeters (62 inches).
Sports Equipment The following articles are considered as part of the free baggage allowance, on international and flights within Colombia: Golf equipment, Diving equipment, Bicycles, Archery equipment, Bowling equipment, Ski equipment.
If excess baggage is generated then charges will apply according to the rates established for the route.
Diving equipment: consisting of an empty tank, pressure gauge, a snorkel, a harpoon, a pair of fins, life vest, weight belt, a regulator and a mask.
Golf bags: consists of golf bag and golf clubs, these must be fully protected. The Maximum Weight of the bag should be 23 kilos (50 pounds) and the sum of its three dimensions (length + height + width) must not exceed 203 centimeters (80 inches).
Fishing gear: luggage considered as normal for fishing.
Bicycles: For tourism or racing, only single seat bicycles accepted, with detachable handlebars and pedals, properly packed.
Archery equipment: consists of a bow, arrows and a maintenance kit in a container that will protect items from damage.
Bowling team: luggage considered as normal for bowling.

The following sporting items incur an extra charge on international flights.
Surf boards: up to three boards are accepted as the maximum per bag. Windsurfing kit is defined as board, mast and "boom".

Domestic Avianca Airlines Flights Baggage Allowance: For flights within Colombia (except for international connections) a piece of luggage and a bag with a combined maximum weight of 50 pounds (23 kilos) is allowed without charge. Charges apply for overweight baggage or additional pieces.
To and from North America: USD 125, with the exception of Miami to San Jose (Costa Rica) or from San Jose (Costa Rica) to Miami: USD 100.
To and from Brazil: USD 50 for the first bag; for the second bag onwards the extra piece charge of USD 125 applies up to 70 pounds/32kilos.
For other international destinations USD 100 will be charged.

Surf boards - On flights operated by TACA Regional when sold with Avianca tickets: A maximum of one board is allowed per traveler. This board must be shorter than 6.7 feet. On flights operated with Cessna Caravan the board(s) must be transported outside its(their) bag; in the case of flights operated with ATR only one board is allowed per bag. A charge of USD 30 must be paid at the domestic airport.

Avianca airline airfares are subject to availability. Avianca flight tickets are only guaranteed once issued. Avianca airfares and specials may be discontinued without previous notice from the airline.
